Dave - Found the post I had seen. It is from the AU 300ZX site.
"Word of warning - the drivers side cam sprockets are under tension and WILL move as you are juggling the timing belt and other 'adjustments'. When mine moved for the first time it scared the crap out of me as they move with some force and very quickly. My suggestion to you is manually bring them to rest, from memory they move to the right hand side after moving by hand by about 30 to 40 degrees. Just grab it very firmly with two hands (one either side of sprocket) you will feel the tension and move it slowly until safe. Then when you have to re-align them for installation of the timing belt. Again use two hands to move them back. I also wore mechanics gloves to make it easier and reduce gashes."
